Special Issue! SOULCALIBUR III Booth Report!

Hello everyone. It's finally here! This year's E3! This is a special report on this year's SOULCALIBUR III E3 booth! Attendees from the project are: Producer Yotoriyama-san, Director Okubo-san and Event Scene Director Sasaki-san, who will be our next guest.

Today's guest is Okubo-san. Let's hear what he has to say about E3.

SOULCALIBUR III booth a huge success!

We've all been working hard in preparation for this - designing the booth, the stage shows, etc., so let's hear how it actually looked.

TAN

Wecome back!

ihm

I'm glad to be back and safe in one piece.

TAN

I would have loved to go! So how was this year's E3?

ihm

It was incredible! It's not called the biggest gaming event of the year for nothing. On the first day, I headed to the SOULCALIBUR III booth excited, anxious and...

TAN

And?

ihm

There were tons of people! Masses and masses!

TAN

Wow!

ihm

I could barely walk with all the people packed into the Namco booth. It was unbelievable. I was relieved and overwhelmed at the same time.

TAN

That's great to hear! And how was the booth design?

ihm

It was like some sort of amusement park ride. Designed like an European castle, with life-size figures of Tira, Setsuka and Zasalamel also on display.

TAN

Fantastic. I am relieved to hear that they were made in time.

ihm

The line to play the demo was never-ending - everybody seemed excited to play. The stage show was also lively. Mitsurugi and Kilik's costumes were also accurately replicated and the actors did a fantastic job. It looked great.

TAN

Excellent. I'm glad to hear that the show went well. How was the tournament that was held on the second day?

ihm

I think the $500 cash prize really helped, but the turn out was extraordinary. There were people lined up two hours before the preliminary rounds and when the tournament started the line grew to an insane length. There were so many people that the brackets were filled before everyone could participate. I would just like to apologize to all the people who came looking forward to the tournament and who couldn't play.

TAN

That is some crowd! Looks like adding the extra playable character's for the tournament paid off.

ihm

Yeah, we kinda crammed it in there, so it was tough. But it's rewarding to actually see your work being enjoyed.

TAN

So, who won the tournament?

ihm

The competition level was incredibly high. In the end, C.J. Kyles took it all home. He's also a huge fan of the series, and even had a tattoo of the evil Soul Calibur on his arm.

TAN

Really? So his arm is evil? With an arm like that, you gotta be good! Oh yeah, how did Hiroaki do against the champ?

ihm

Almost forgot. The sexy show host announced, "And here's the Producer of SOULCALIBUR III, Hiroakiiiiiiiii Yamashiroooooooo!!"

TAN

Hugh, who's that? (laughs)

ihm

Well, Yotoriyama is hard to pronounce, even in Japanese. Hahaha. The three days of E3 went by quickly and I was able to experience the expectations of the fans in person.

TAN

That's great . You also brought back Pac-Man T-shirts, tons of chocolate and magazine souvenirs. Thanks for the report.
